The most beautiful things always pass the fastest. The ISPO Munich 2020 is over, but the sports industry is far from resting! Around 80,000 visitors from 120 countries got inspired by the latest innovations and products over the last four days at the Messe München. These are the most important things to take with you from ISPO 2020!

The ISPO Munich is much more than just a trade fair! It proves to be a global platform for establishing partnerships and networking beyond the fair. One of our InspiredBySports experts in the field of freeskiing Bernhard Liebl was also present at the successful fair and was inspired by the creativity of the sports industry in the 18 halls.

Sustainable solutions for the sports industry

The trade fair proved that sustainability is no longer a trend, but has become an integral part of our everyday lives. The sporting goods industry is aware of its responsibility and is focusing more than ever on sustainably produced products and recycling management. Among the numerous sustainable product ideas were, for example, vegan running shoes or even a jacket designed from plastic waste.

In addition, a new ISPO format was founded: the event format ISPO SDG Summit. In future, this is to be held parallel to OutDoor by ISPO and aims to develop solutions and joint projects that contribute to the sustainability goals (SDGs) of the United Nations.

Lack of exercise? No thanks!

One of the current social challenges is the global lack of exercise. The sport running, which has been one of the most popular sports worldwide since the 1970s, plays a decisive role as an opponent in this context. Running is still in vogue and dominates the market. eSports, another important area of ISPO Munich since 2019, also aims to counteract the lack of exercise. Top athletes in eSports can thus bring the topic closer to the younger target group, which is most involved in digital media.

The ISPO Munich Sports Week will last until February 1, with the Night Run in the Olympic Park as its grand finale. This year, more than 1,000 runners have already registered.
