OutDoor by ISPO: a new era for outdoor sports

Wherever you look, there are numerous tents all over the hall. From tepees to small one-man tents, everything is there. Next door you can find practical camping dishes, sleeping bags and jackets in all kinds of colours and shapes. A real paradise for every outdoor sports fan! On Monday, 01 July, our Inspired by Sports Team was on site in Munich at Europe’s largest outdoor trade fair, the OutDoor by ISPO. On 18 different theme-specific areas in the indoor and outdoor areas of Messe München we were able to be fascinated by all products and innovations around the topic of outdoor sports.

For four days, 1018 exhibitors presented their latest innovations to around 22.000 visitors from around 90 countries. Among the visitors, two thirds travelled from abroad to Munich to get excited about outdoor sports. The motto of the fair: “There’s a perfect outdoor for everyone” lived up to its name. From classic outdoor sports such as climbing or hiking, to trail running, to the newly added sports Adventure Travel and Bike, visitors were offered so much.

What was on offer?

There is no denying that the world of outdoor sports is constantly growing. With the expansion of the classic outdoor understanding, the organisers succeeded in attracting numerous new exhibitors. These included brands such as Gabor, Endura and Billabong.

Whether lectures, presentations or discussions, you always got your money’s worth. Experts presented tips and inspirations on topics such as the right way to approach customers. But entertainment was not neglected either! Numerous shows and activities were offered, such as mountain bike parcours or stand up paddling.

Sustainability – the cross-industry topic

“We’re in business to save our planet.” Statements like these could be found at almost every booth. It was not only the trade fair that tried to make the planning of OutDoor by ISPO climate-neutral and resource-saving. Many exhibitors also made a clear statement on the subject of sustainability. We were particularly impressed by brands such as adidas and Vaude, which presented recyclable polyester fibres or fibres made of wood or brown algae as an alternative to conventional synthetic fibres.

In addition, OutDoor by ISPO introduced a code of conduct for environmentally friendly and socially responsible actions, the Code of Conduct. It provided organisers, exhibitors and visitors with information for climate-neutral and sustainable action.

In addition, a newly established platform for manufacturers, dealers and end consumers will always provide information on relevant and current industry topics. In this way, you can always stay up to date in outdoor sports and easily network.

Our team from Inspired by Sports was able to gain many insights into the outdoor world and can definitely recommend OutDoor by ISPO to anyone whose heart beats for outdoor.

Statement

Outdoor sports fans watch out! Our InspiredBySports Team was at the OutDoor by ISPO on Monday 01 July. Under the motto “There’s a perfect outdoor for everyone”, all sports were represented, from classic outdoor sports such as hiking to newly recorded sports such as adventure travel and biking, that make an outdoor sports heart beat faster.
