DTM 2018

Also this year one of the most popular touring car series of the world traditionally begins and ends in the Hockenheimring. The German Touring Car Masters (DTM) invites all motorsport fans to the spectacular season opening weekend from 03-05 May 2019.

The famous Hockenheimring

The Hockenheimring is one of the most modern racetracks in the world and is even 87 years old. A young man named Ernst Christ had the first ideas and plans for a race track in his hometown in 1930. Only two years later, the first motorcycle race took place on the new track and the small town of Hockenheim was soon to become well known. After several rebuilds, partly due to the Second World War, the Hockenheimring is now not only a famous race track for Formula 1, DTM and other motorsport events, but also a popular venue for concerts.

It’s all happening this weekend on the track.

Several races are scheduled for the weekend alongside the DTM: The Audi Sport Seyffarth R8 LMS Cup, the W Series and the Porsche Carrera Cup Germany. On Friday the preparation starts. Start exercises and free practice determine the day and the DTM team and the drivers get in the mood for the weekend.

Saturday then it starts: The qualifications begin, the starting fields are presented and the first race of the DTM takes place! After the award ceremony of the DTM, spectators can still follow the drivers of the Porsche Carrera Cup Germany and the W Series on the track. On the last day of the weekend, the qualifications as well as the second race of the DTM are scheduled again. The other races can also be admired again. On Sunday morning the spectators can take part of the interesting pitwalk and do a taxi ride in a racing car.

Fan- and family-friendly

New season- new luck. And also for the spectators a lot has changed this year. Therefore the entrance to the pits is now included in the tickets. The pits of the manufacturers are also open to DTM visitors and attract many curious glances. With the Pit View the DTM shows us how to inspire fans. Up to three children up to and including the age of 14, accompanied by an adult, can also take part free of charge in the cheapest categories. Tickets are available for the individual days or for the entire weekend.

In addition to a supporting programme on and off the track, there will also be autograph sessions, food trucks and other attractions this year.

DTM press conferences

Before the first race weekend the DTM invites us to a press conference, where we will be there of course. We will start on 29 April with a telephone conference where drivers Daniel Juncadella (Aston Martin/R-Motorsport), Mike Rockenfeller (Audi) and Marco Wittmann (BMW) will be available for questions and answers.

Right at the start of the season on Friday 03 May there will be another press conference at the race track. On site are Jake Dennis (Aston Martin/R-Motorsport), Robin Frijns (Audi), Sheldon van der Linde (BMW) and Pietro Fittipaldi (WRT-Audio). Advance registration is not required.
