Maaike Huvermann: Windsurfer of the month
NEWS
If you observe Maaike Huvermann aside the water, the petite 18-year-old Dutchwoman appears comparatively shy between the other riders. But when it goes out on the water she definitely belongs to the big ones.
Maaike Huvermann controls her board too good and her tricks are without any frills. A difference between the ambitious teenager and and the other freestyler who partially are ten to fifteen years older than her, isn’t obvious even Maaike Huvermann just does freestyle for four years.
“She has what it takes to replace me as world champion someday” – Sarah-Quita Offringa
An accolade from the freestyle queen. Justified – Maaike’s performances are impressive!
Three times in a row she became Junior World Champion in freestyle and celebrated at the age of 16 her premier at the PWA World Tour. Since then she works even more painstaking in Brouwersdam, her homespot, on new tricks which yield her a spot on the winner podium. Behind Sarah-Quita Offringa and Oda Johanne Stokstad Brødholt she became 3rd at the overall standings.
At the World Cups at Fuerteventura and Sylt we will take a look at her, what Maaike Huvermann will rock on the board and if Offringa will be right in the end.
