Why these surfers are making history in Peru

NEWS

Over 27 nations from all over the world came together in Peru from august 6th until 14th to make history at the ISA world surfing games. This fantastic video shows all the details.

After eight days of competition at the INS ISA world surfing games in Playa Jacó, Costa Rica, team Peru takes home the golden trophy. Tia Blanco wins for the USA and argentino Leandro Usuna wins his second mens-gold.

And even ISA-president Fenando Aguerre expresses his excitement about the final in a very emotional way:

„Congratulations to the winners of the team gold medal, team Peru and the single gold winners Tia Blanco and Leandro Usuna. Tia and Leandro are going down in history as the first ISA-goldmedal-winners of the olympic surf championship. Just as their competition, they surfed with real olympic spirit in honour of their country.“

A historic moment

And it goes on without a pause for breath: right after the decision of the IOC to welcome surfing as a olympic discipline, the competitors are eagerly awaiting the 2020 games in Tokyo.

    STATEMENT

Team Peru has made it to the top and has left the favorites Portugal, Costa Rica and France right in the back. We’re curious how this advantage is going to have an effect on the 2020 olympic games in Tokyo.
