Wakeboarding in the container port: a completely new challenge

NEWS

Pulled over suspended containers by an industrial crane – at a speed of 60km/h? This is now possible at the Wake Crane Park in Croatia! Our expert Felix Georgii has built the park so we have all the information about this completely new challenge for you.

A self-assembled wake park from an old harbor crane as a lift and floating and flying containers as obstacles provides a wakeboarding experience as it has never been seen before. The world’s first Wake Crane Park was built by Dominik Gührs and Felix Georgii in Croatia. The crane has an arm length of 40m and can turn up to 60km/h fast. In addition to the challenge of finding such a crane, the difficult task was to float the containers, Felix says. But after three days of construction, the 360 degree set-up finally came!

The absolute highlight of the course is the “Flying Obstracle”. The floating container was integrated as a special obstacle in the park.

The ride puts the wakeboarders on a completely new rehearsal as there is no straight line and the crane can only draw the surfer around the circle. This becomes a problem when starting the obstacles.
