Nazaré is a city in Portugal, around 120 km from Lisbon nearly located in the middle of the country. You can call it  “big-wave hell”  because its dark, cold, and intimidating.

Jason Polakow (Australia) is one of the best big-wave- windsurfer all over the globe. Click here to see him catch one! Nazaré is at the apex of a deep canyon that funnels huge North Atlantic swells into a single spot close to the shore. During the winter months, those swells attract a few big wave surfers from all around the world. The first big wave surfer who made this spot famous was Garrett McNamara in 2011, but Jason Polakow is the first windsurfer to ride at what many would consider the world’s most intimidating break.
