Red Bull Ragnarok 2016

NEWS

The world’s biggest snowkite event, Red Bull Ragnarok 2016, is in the books. Could’t make it? We make sure you get the gist.

We are all looking for a hero from time to time and there is a new one in the epic world of snow-kiting: Florian Gruber. He went for it this year in an amazing event in Norway and took home the honors of being the last survivor on the battlefield. This is what Ragnarok roughly stands for. More detailed, it stands for the battle between good and evil ancient norse gods with only one possible outcome of the battle, a victory of the heroes. Red Bull is doing an amazing job to make it an epic and awesome event year after year and keeping it respectfully.

You might take a wild guess – the course is really challenging. Those who come unprepared will fall on the cold battlefields of Norway,

that’s for sure.

Body and mind are getting a serious treat and only stamina and endurance will take the participants and riders to their goal. The drive of the riders is an insane thing to see, because it really takes a lot out of them.

Hardangervidda is the place called where all the competition takes place. This vast area is a perfect location for this tough course, which is completed after five full laps (one lap is between 15 and 20 kilometers). A mass start, whether using skis or snowboards to complement the kite, is the go-ahead for the Red Bull Ragnarok. But you will get the excitement while watching the video below…
