O'Neill Girls Freeride Camp 2016

Want to go freeriding? The O`Neill Girls Freeride Camp 2016 is for all thrilled ski- and snowboard girls – no matter if beginners or advanced!

ABOUT

The journey to the O’Neill Girls Freeride Camp 2016 takes place on Friday afternoon, just like the subdivision of the first class accommodations. Afterwards the girls get to know each other.

After dinner and full of energy, the first theory lesson starts. These lessons are held by experienced mountain guides, who accompany us for the event. The mountain guides inform about the different kinds of avalanches, the functionality of LVS-devices, Avalanche-locator-services and risks in the terrain.

To start the first day in the snow in a relaxed way, all the rented equipment (K2 Ski / Snowboard) are distributed on Friday evening. Furthermore, all the girls receive BCA avalanche-backpacks and trackers.

On Saturday we start very early in the morning, to get the best lines. The beginnercamp contains only little climbs and most of the time the compound can be used directly from the lift. For the Advanced a longer hike of up to 45 min can be a part of the program. The descents are worth it!

Our photographer Mirja Geh always accompanies the camps and takes great pictures of all our girls.

In the evening after dinner the meet and greet with O’Neill Pro-Rider Julia Neumann (Ski) and me, Nadine Härtinger (Snowboard) is on the schedule. We talk about our lives and show a short presentation about what we have accomplished so far.

On Sunday the day starts really early as well and continues similar to the day before. Freeriding, freeriding and freeriding! Until three o’clock when we return to the hotel and say our goodbyes.

STATEMENT

A great event for Freeride-Lovers, even if you want to take part by yourself. There are always super nice girls taking part and amazing friendships can result from an event like this. Furthermore, the freeride-experience is just something special! What makes everything perfect are the amazing souvenir pictures our photographer Mirja Geh takes.

PROGRAM

To name just a couple of program points and features:

  • Exercises with the handling of LVS devices
  • Burried – exercises
  • Evening-programm with theoretical avalanche-awareness-programm
  • Meet&greet with pro-riders
NICE TO KNOW

Well-trained mountain-guides accompany the girls to great spots. Untouched hillsides and pure nature awaits the camp-participants, whereupon some of the hikes and hillsides can be very challenging. Some of the freeriders wouldn’t have tried this kind of hikes and hillsides by themselves.

Even if the weather conditions don’t really play along – powdering isn’t easy to be planned – and we usually find a really good alternative-program. There, the camp-participants get great technique-tipps for their powder-rides or new ways to jump self-made kickers.
