INSPIRED EVENTS
On July 3rd, 2016 the next Ironman Triathlon takes place in Frankfurt. The athletes prove their skills in the disciplines Swimming, Running and Biking at the world’s hardest competition. Thereby they are trying to qualify for the IRONMAN World Championship 2016 in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii.
ABOUT
Thousands of viewers cheer the athletes while they are running a wide distance through the middle of Frankfurt’s city. The athletes prove their skills in the three disciplines Swimming, Running and Biking and compete with their rivals. The participants begin with swimming in a 3.8km distance in the calm water of Langener Waldsee.
The following 180km biking route goes through the middle of Frankfurt and the surroundings. The whole distance is closed for other vehicles. This part of the IRONMAN is hindered because of the hilly landscape. At the end there is the 42.195 km running route where thousands of viewers cheer from the roadside.
The IRONMAN GERMANY takes place in Frankfurt am Main since 2002 and is the IRONMAN EUROPEAN CHAMPIONSHIP for the qualification of the World Championship in Hawaii at the same time. The 75 first winners are qualified for Hawaii.

STATEMENT
The IRONMAN is nothing for beginners. The athletes get 15 hours for all three disciplines. The minimum time is 8 hours for all of the three very long routes. Many of the participants quit before reaching the end. The event is also worth seeing for the audience.

PROGRAM
Visitors can escort and encourage the athletes during the whole run. In addition to the big event the IRONKIDS takes place. Children and teenagers from Frankfurt and from all over the world gather rounds in the IRONKIDS Mainkai-Arena and collect money for a good purpose.
NICE TO KNOW
Back back in 2015 Jan Frodeno finished the IRONMAN as the best man only in 7:49:48 hours. Daniela Ryf was the best woman and needed just 8:51:00 hours.
