Capetown: Windsurfing & Vitamin D
SPOTLIGHT

The journey continues. In 2016, with a stop in Capetown, South Africa. Under these incredible conditions, windsurfing is an absolute must do!
After a successful year 2015, I started the new year with an amazing trip to South Africa. As far as I am concerned, Capetown is the absolute hotspot when it comes to windsurfing. 80% of the entire worldcup took place in Capetown and I can clearly say, it were incredible 6 weeks I spend there. The port city in the southwestern South Africa definately convinced me to come back as soon as possible.
I surely have no problem with non-stop 30 degrees, bright sunshine and crystal blue water. You will definately not remark a lack of Vitamin-D.
After this amazing windsurf experience in South Africa I am even more motivated and can’t wait for the season to start in Germany. But now it is time to lean back, relax and enjoy the photographs – they make you feel the heat and golden summer of Capetown.
YOUR EXPERT
STATEMENT
This is definitely the place to go when you are busy with your last preparations for the freestyle discipline. Here you can collect valuable experiences. Besides that, you will have lots of fun, action and the opportunity to discover one of the most amazing countries our planet has to offer.
JOURNEY
The journey, at least when departing from Europe, is very comfortable when taking the plane. You can take an overnight flight and won’t have jetlag problems, since South Africa shares the same time zone. After your arrival at the airport in Capetown, you can either take a taxi, a shuttle bus (cheaper otion) or you rent a car in advance, which I would fully recommend.
ACCOMMODATION
When booking an accomodation, it is recommandable to look for cottages or bungalows near the beach. They are often quite cozy and offer a classy ambiance. It is also more relaxed than staying in a big hotel complex.
ALTERNATIVES
South Africa offers way more than just and incredible ocean with lovely waves. If you are interested in doing a wine-tasting or just like having a sip of high-quality wine, Capetowns surrounding regions like Stellenbosch, Franschhoek or Paarl, should definately be worth a visit during your stay.
