The US Open are already in the starting blocks – from 29th August till 11th of September are the Courts in Flushing Meadows occupied for the fourth Grand Slam Tournament this season.
In less than a month, the worlds best tennis players competed against each other for the golden trophy at the 135th session of the US Open in New York.
Besides title defender Novak Djokovic who is also the number one of the world ranking list, Andy Murray, Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal will compete side by side for the price money of the last grand slam tournament of the year.
The lucky winner will receive a proud sum of around 3.15 mio €. In total the price money of all tournaments added up to 41.7 mio € this year – another new record for a tennis tournament.
“We are proud that the US Open will offer the highest price money this year in the entire tennis history”, according to the chairman of the american tennis association USTA, Katrina Adams.
Another novelty at the US Open 2016 is the entire roofing of the center court in flushing meadows, by what breaks due to heavy rainfall are history.
