Unbelievable! The breaking2 Mission by Nike: Every second counts

/NEWS

There is just one dream in the runner scene: To break a marathon in less than two hours. Sounds unbelievable, but Nike and three athletes are working on this dream – and thereby change the future of running. They want to make history and test the boundaries of the human body, again and again.

Nike, the three athletes Eliud Kipchoge, Lelisa Desisa and Zersenay Tadese and a team of scientists are trying the impossible: To break marathon under two hours. Every second counts. For this goal, they need the fastest shoe that Nike has ever developed. A shoe of unprecedented technological and sporting performance. Based on the detailed insights and the continuous feedback from the runners’ training, the development team created an absolutely new model: the Nike Zoom Vaporfly shoe.

But not only the shoe is of great importance, also hard training, the right nutrition and regeneration are important facts to make the impossible possible.

In an attempt to undercut the world’s best by a few minutes – not just seconds – the entire know-how is necessary. The skin temperature has to be monitored, and it is important to record the hydrogenation and the absorption of sugar. New types of clothing should minimize air resistance. Breaking2 is an unprecedented experiment – and we are excited to keep watching until they beat the clock!
