The Kitesurf World Cup auf Sylt goes high up. From 25th to 30th June the sea in front of Brandenburger Strand belongs to the kitesurfers. A total of 35 participants are on the second station of the World Championship. After Cape Verde, now Sylt and then on to Spain and Morocco.

Altogether there are eight locations where the kiters fly with their boards and kites over the sea.

  • Cape Verde Islands
  • Sylt
  • Tarifa (Spain)
  • Mauritius
  • Morocco
  • Brazil
  • Hawaii
  • Torquay (Australia)

The athletes compete in two disciplines:

1. wave, you ride on a wave with a kite and surf down it like surfing and you can also use the wave as a ramp.

2. Strapless Freestyle, one performs high jumps and tricks with the kite, however, has no foot straps.

The whole thing is of course rewarded appropriately. The prize amount is 30.000€ and important points for the overall World Championship ranking.

On the second day and with good weather conditions the competing World Champion in Strapless Freestyle Airton Cozzolino won the men’s final against the second Mitu Moteiro by a narrow margin, with only a few points difference. There is good news from the German camp, Susanne Schwarztrauber from Regensburg made it to third place.
