The IFA in Berlin is bringing the tech and sports world closer together. With products such as the Samsung Gear S3 using latest technologies and wrapping it in a classy, smart and timeless design that not only looks sporty, but also comes in very handy while doing sports.

The line “I told you so…” is definitely not one of my favorites, but in this case, I have to repeat myself again. The smart watch and fitness watch situation in the last couple of months did not really contribute a lot of great stuff to be honest. Why move on, why not keep it classy and why does it have to have everything you do not want as an athlete? These questions came up every time a big tech producer released a new smart watch. Just a few tech companies listened to what the users had to say over the course of this year and we are finally going back to smart watches with both class and amazing innovations and technology.

The Samsung Gear S3 is exactly a device that combines classic and modern style. It is available in two versions: one is called “frontier”, the other one “classic”. It is a chameleon that can adapt to different situations in life. Whether you want to live an outdoor life and search for adventures in the wild or appear at a meeting with your new sponsors – this smart watch can pull it off with its timeless design. The developers team is presenting it as a tribute to all the classic chronographs that embody real craftsmanship.
Experience pays off every time
Samsung released a lot of smart watches and fitness tracking devices so far. With the Gear S2 and its personalized dial as well as the rotatable bezel, the right steps were taken into a new era of smart watches. It is now time to not just extend the portfolio with a new great smart watch, but also with an amazing watch. Even swiss luxury watch designers are part of the project and can only confirm what many visitors at the IFA 2016 could see with their own eyes: “The Samsung Gear S3 combines tradition and the modern era within an immensely intelligent smart watch. As a classic chronograph with the latest technologies it will prevail and stay here for a long time”, says Yvan Arpa, swiss designer for luxury watches.

The technical facts
The casing of the newest member of the Gear-family is a IP68-certified case which allows it to be waterproof for as long as 30 minutes at 1.5 meters water depth. The Corning Gorilla Glass SR+ gives the watch additional protection against scratches – the new Always On Display (AOD) wit Super AMOLED-Technology and 16 million colors needs the right bodyguard to keep the watch as beautiful as it is. Another great function gives the user the ability to accept calls and decline calls without even touching the display. The important battery runtime is set to function up to 4 days, according to Samsung.
Outdoor fans will appreciate these functions:
- GPS
- Altimeter and barometer
- Tachometer
- An SOS-Signal that informs family and friends about the current location
Who thought that´s it, underestimated the new Gear S3. A strong partners network to other big companies gives the user countless possibilities to connect the watch to apps and software. For example the BMW Connected App allows us to check the status of our gas tank, unlock the car door or informs the user when to start your way back home after a long day in the nature – genius!
This year or next year?
This year! Both versions are going to be available within the next couple of months, but definitely this year, promises Samsung. Price details and possible add-ons are yet to be released, but the tech company made sure to keep the Gear S2 on the market at a reduced price.
