The surf-elite is going to meet for the German Windsurf Worldcup 2016 on the island of sylt.

NEWS

This year, the German Windsurf Worldcup is going to take place on Sylt. From the 26th to the 30th July, national and international surf legends are going to meet for the 24th time to compete for the title of the “International German Champion”.

Sparks are beginning to fly the last July weekend on Sylt. For all windsurf fans this event is an absolute must go, since surf legends from all over the world are going to come to Sylt for this special championship. Besides Gunnar Asmussen who won the slalom worldcup in 2013,  the German champion Vincent Langer is also going to compete  for the prize money of 10.000 €.

One of our InspiredBySports experts, Nico Prien, is attending the competition and was fortunate to be placed number 1 after the first 3 rounds. He is still speechless and can’t really grasp what happened.

”I still don’t really know what has happened, but I can’t express how happy I am. In the beginning it was a side by side race with Vincent, but as the wind got weaker I somehow got the turn and could leave him behind. Unbelievable how suddenly all the hard work pays off.”

We are pleased with Nico Priens results and cross fingers for the last day of the event.
