Norway – Are you ready for the Trolltunga?

Who made it to Trolltunga once, will understand why one can find trolls in almost every norwegian myth. The landscape of Norway diffuses something mystical, almost magical. Trolltunga, that stands for troll tongue, is a piece of rock jutting horizontally out of a mountain about 700 metres. It belongs to one of the most impressive and gigantic rock formations of the country.
The troll tongue that is situated on a height of 1.100 metres, about 700 metres above the north side of the green turquoise shimmering lake Ringedalsvatnet. If you want to reach Trolltunga, it is best to travel to Skjeggedal there by car,a region near the municipality of Odda. From there you will have to start a 10 to 12 hours hike. It is highly recommended to do this sometime between June and September, as it can get quite cold during the other months. The hike is long and quite energy-sapping, why one should make sure to bring enough provisions, a torch and a first-aid kit. Furthermore, you need to bring excellent hiking boots, warm and functional clothing and a second set of clothes for changing purposes.
