Kitesurfing – Why jumping high is crucial for success
If you want to do a trick – a high jump is the basis. In addition, it gives you a feeling of pure enthusiasm and confidence.
The IBS team has defined “3 rules” you can follow. Just see below!
1. WHAT YOU NEED IS A BIGGER KITE
First of all, for jumping high into the sky you need a bigger kite than you would take without thinking of high jumps!
2. WHAT YOU NEED IS SPEED
The most essential thing you need for jumping high is speed. But please be careful: you shouldn’t lose control over your board when getting too much speed.
3. WHAT YOU NEED IS POP
If you’re going out and practice in waves you can use them as a kicker. But if you practice in flat water conditions you need to load your heels strongly for getting boost. Then it is very important to keep your speed and send your kite to 11 o’clock when pulling the bar towards your body. After that, you really need to fly your kite, otherwise you’re falling down! Keep the kite above you, take the weight into your lifting gear and be aware of how high you are.
NICE TO KNOW:
It sounds obvious, but it is very important that you learn to control your kite when you’re up in the air! If you’re aware of balance and control you’re able to add tweaks and grabs.
