The Jever Fun Kitecontest took place in the little town of Neuharlingersiel near the rough north sea coast. You wouln’t believe it, but this small fishing village is a real insider tip in the kitesurfing scene.

Mario Rodwald told us, that the kite-area can already be used five hours before high tide and there is a possibility to switch spots, depending on the direction of the winds. Since Neuhartling is positioned quite hidden in the area of Wottmund in the northwest of Niedersachsen and the spots can not be reached by foot, our kite expert recommends the convenient travel with a rental car.

Even though there are more spots for the different directions of the wind, there are days where there is no wind at all at the north sea coast. That’s what the contestants fear, but they were surprised by the exact opposite. The contest could take place and we’re especially excited about the outcome for our kitepro and InspiredBySports expert Linus Erdmann.

“In general there wasn’t a lot of wind, causing me to use my 15. Turbine from Slingshot. But despite the light wind and some reruns, I was able to come in first place, at the end of the day. The contest was great, although I would’ve loved having more wind. I think I’m going to return next near, since the contest, as well as the parties were great.”, says Linus Erdmann.

Next to the athletic records from the kiters, Windloop, the organizer, was able to create a great athmosphere and a big variety with the supporting program. All the important kite scene manufacturers came to Neuhartlingersiel to present their new kitesurf accessories and to have everyone test it. The Testival had real “WorldCup-Character”, kitepro and IBS-expert Mario Rodwald stated. And also the relaxed parties, that were rocked by DJ Rene Cruz, Axel H from RedBull Sugga and Matthias Fengler aka DJ Puke, were a real foretaste for this years World Cup on Fehmarn.
