/NEWS

At the Internationale Funkausstellung (IFA) 2017 in Berlin, there was a special area for Fitness and Activity. We present the latest developments of the exhibitors.

Tracking your heart rate during work out or determining the optimal wake-up time – technology has long since entered the field of fitness and health. Thus, there was a special area for Fitness & Activity at the Internationale Funkausstellung (IFA) 2017 in Berlin, where exhibitors such as Fitbit, Garmin and Samsung presented their latest product innovations.

Usual fitness trackers now come with new functionalities. According to Computerbild, Samsung Gear Fit 2 Pro has a waterproof housing up to 50 m and is therefore suitable to track your swimming training. No matter what sport you do – the tracker recognizes this automatically, following Chip.de. Smart functions have also been incorporated into the fitness armband. You can, for example, pair it with a Samsung TV to play training programs or even with the mobile phone to initiate calls. Moreover, apps can be stored on the fitness-tracker. Fitbit and Garmin have also integrated NFC chips into their fitness bracelets so that they can be used for payment like smartwatches.

If you don’t want to wear a regular fitness bracelet, you can use alternatives such as special sports headphones instead. For example, Jabra has released Jabra Elite Sport. These are wireless Bluetooth headphones, which are optimized for fitness applications. With a recharge time of 13.5 hours and a waterproof surface, the headphones are suitable for extended workouts even in the outside, according to übergizmo. Tracking is possible as well, as the headphones have sensors for pulse and activity measurement. The collected data is stored in the corresponding app and processed graphically. With Gear IconX, 2018 Samsung has put out special fitness headphones as well which, however, have a lower battery life, according to golem.de. Good sound during workout and fitness-tracking in one – what more could you want?

But not only wearables play a role in fitness. At the IFA, the Archos SK8 was introduced, an electro-powered skateboard with which you can drive up to 15 km/h. Pretty cool!
