Playing golf on the island of Sylt: Definitely worth a visit

ACROSS GOLF
Golf

Budersand is the perfect place to go if you are looking for enough variety on the green: The course guarantees a unique golf experience. However, you will also find enough entertainment apart from the golf course.

In the south of the North Sea Island you can find a place called Hörnum where a links course is situated. Combined with the strong sea breeze and the heather surrounding the area, you sometimes believe you are in Scotland, the motherland of Golf. Although the weather conditions (strong wind and quick changes of sun and rain) don’t provide the best foundation for an easy 9 hole course,  these conditions somehow increase my passion for playing golf enormously. You will definitely not find another place in Germany with a similar atmosphere that comes even close to what it is like in Hörnum. The course is located on the side of the mud flats. They offer a practise green for strokes up to 100 metres.

STATEMENT

There is even more to explore and to do on the island of Sylt: going on the elbow hike, reading a book in the beach chair at “Buhne 16”, visiting the south peak in Hoernum or taking a few surf lessons at the “Suedkap” Surfing School. Sylt is great fun and always worth a visit!

JOURNEY

In order to explore the island apart from the golfing course, I always travel by car. However, if you don’t have a car you can also take the ferry from Denmark, travel by train or take the plane.

ACCOMMODATION

Personally, I highly recommend to rent an apartment (Rudloff). To explore the diversity of the island, you should definitely travel by car. This makes it a lot easier to also visit other golf courses.
