C&rsquo;est pr\u00e9cis\u00e9ment contre cela que tous ceux qui connaissent la course te mettent en garde. Jusqu&rsquo;\u00e0 Courmayeur, le grand point de ravitaillement en Italie \u00e0 environ 79 kilom\u00e8tres, se succ\u00e8dent plusieurs longues ascensions et les premi\u00e8res descentes techniques. Si tu suis le rythme des enthousiastes ici, tu as d\u00e9j\u00e0 compromis la seconde moiti\u00e9 de la course avant qu&rsquo;elle commence.<\/p>\n<p>Tom Evans a fait exactement l&rsquo;inverse en 2025. Il a laiss\u00e9 les leaders de la premi\u00e8re heure s&rsquo;\u00e9chapper, a abord\u00e9 les ascensions efficacement en alternant course et marche rapide, et a respect\u00e9 son propre plan. De l\u00e0, la route descend longtemps et souvent de mani\u00e8re technique. Et c\u2019est pr\u00e9cis\u00e9ment dans la descente que r\u00e9side la v\u00e9ritable \u00e9preuve. Chaque descente sollicite excentriquement les quadriceps, c\u2019est-\u00e0-dire sous \u00e9tirement. Cette forme de charge endommage les fines structures musculaires. Le marqueur de la cr\u00e9atine kinase, ou CK, augmente en ultramarathon de 20 \u00e0 100 fois par rapport \u00e0 sa valeur au repos.<\/p>\n<p>L\u2019aspect trompeur est le d\u00e9calage temporel. La douleur ne se fait gu\u00e8re sentir au moment o\u00f9 les d\u00e9g\u00e2ts surviennent. Elle s\u2019accumule et se manifeste lors de la seconde moiti\u00e9 de la course, lorsque les cuisses br\u00fblent \u00e0 chaque pas en descente et que la prochaine mont\u00e9e devient un mur. Pour le reste du champ, le chronom\u00e8tre tourne jusqu\u2019\u00e0 la limite de 46 heures 45 minutes.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<h2 style=\"line-height: 1.5;\">S\u2019alimenter et passer une nuit sans sommeil permettent d\u2019atteindre le sommet de la course<\/h2>\n<p>Le chiffre d\u00e9cisif de la seconde moiti\u00e9 de la course ne figure pas sur la montre, mais sur le plan nutritionnel. Les coureurs sous les 24 heures consomment en permanence entre 90 et 100 grammes de glucides par heure, un m\u00e9lange de gels, de cola et de nourriture solide aux environ 15 points de ravitaillement. Cela semble beaucoup, et c\u2019est effectivement le cas. L\u2019estomac doit traiter cette quantit\u00e9 pendant plus de vingt heures, tandis que le corps est soumis \u00e0 une charge continue. Beaucoup perdent leur course \u00e0 cause d\u2019un estomac rebelle, car ils n\u2019ont jamais test\u00e9 cet apport en situation d\u2019effort.<\/p>\n<p>S\u2019y ajoute le sommeil, ou plut\u00f4t son absence. Le haut du classement court toute une nuit sans s\u2019arr\u00eater et franchit la ligne \u00e0 l\u2019apr\u00e8s-midi suivante, en plein jour. Le peloton interm\u00e9diaire doit traverser deux nuits. La deuxi\u00e8me est la plus difficile. Le manque de sommeil affecte non seulement l\u2019humeur, mais aussi la perception et la prise de d\u00e9cision. Apr\u00e8s Champex-Lac \u00e0 125 kilom\u00e8tres et Trient \u00e0 139 kilom\u00e8tres, il s\u2019agit moins de vitesse que d\u2019une gestion rigoureuse des derni\u00e8res heures.<\/p>\n<p>En fin de compte, on dresse un bilan froid. En 2025, sur 2 492 partants, 1 665 ont atteint l\u2019arriv\u00e9e, soit un taux de r\u00e9ussite d\u2019environ 67 %. Le finisher moyen a pass\u00e9 entre 38 et 40 heures sur la course.
