For the 123rd<\/sup> time, the “Kieler Woche”\u00a0<\/strong><\/b>to<\/b>ok pl<\/b>ace this year<\/b>\u00a0un<\/b>der best weather con<\/b>di<\/b>tio<\/b>ns. Over three millions visitors enjoyed the variety of 1500 exciting events and shows over nine days. The “Kieler Woche” is not only the largest nautical festival of the world, but at the same time the biggest summer party of Northern Europe.<\/b>After nine days of impressive sailing competitions, amazing concerts, art exhibitions and theatre, the organizers and the visitors mark\u00a0the event as an all-around success. “The atmosphere was perfect, the weather fabulous and the sailors performed in high class regattas. With a diversified sporty, cultural and sociopolitical program and a unique international flair, our city was representing itself from its best side over the last days”, says Kiel’s mayor\u00a0Ulf K\u00e4mpfer. Under the slogan “Dancing with the wind” the annual Kieler Woche combines sports, culture and event. Not only the visitors were attracted by this amazing event. In total over 4,000 sailors in different classes from 65 countries worldwide competed against each other – including our\u00a0german sailing expert Michael Zittlau<\/a>. At the famous navy reunion at the port “Tirpitzhaffen” 49 ships met from 14 countries with 3,000 soldiers. Furthermore, an international variety of culinary specialties from over 34 different countries could be found at the international market, which celebrated its 40th<\/sup> anniversary this year.<\/p>\n

An other sporty highlight certainly was\u00a0the\u00a0“Para World Sailing Championships”. This regatta should send a signal to the Paralympics Committee (IPC) with the intention to include sailing in the Paralympic’s program for 2024. Wow – after this eventful nine days, we’re looking forward to the Kieler Woche back in 2018!<\/p>\n
