When hearing about a force 10 storm over the open sea, the first thing you think about is probably not windsurfing. But for some crazy guys, it is. This is why eight of the world\u2019s best windsurfers are already waiting for the next perfect storm to hit the Northern Hemisphere in winter 2017.<\/strong>Red Bull is globally known for its extreme sport events. This time, though, they once again take it one step further. For the Red Bull Storm Chase, which is probably the world\u2019s toughest and maybe also most dangerous windsurfing contest, eight professional surfers will perform their best tricks in the middle of a hurricane-like storm. Four competitors are already from the last event back in 2014, the remaining four participants will be chosen by an expert panel last minute – no earlier than 72 hours before the events actually begins. All information can be found at the Facebook event page<\/a>. As it all depends on the weather conditions, no date and place are confirmed yet. A \u201cwatch alert\u201d will start 120 hours ahead of the event. Different locations will then be observed until a force 10 storm in a suitable spot is located. The Red Bull team choses the spot by different conditions, like proximity to an international airport, good medical coverage and emergency services and a guarantee of adequate water access.<\/p>\n
