The athletes prove their skills in the disciplines Swimming, Running and Biking at the world\u2019s hardest competition. Thereby they are trying to qualify for the IRONMAN World Championship 2016 in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii.<\/b><\/p>\n<h4><strong>ABOUT<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Thousands of viewers cheer the athletes while they are running a wide distance through the middle of Frankfurt\u2019s city. The athletes prove their skills in the three disciplines Swimming, Running and Biking and compete with their rivals. The participants begin with swimming in a 3.8km distance in the calm water of Langener Waldsee.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The following 180km biking route goes through the middle of Frankfurt and the surroundings. The whole distance is closed for other vehicles. This part of the IRONMAN is hindered because of the hilly landscape. At the end there is the 42.195 km running route where thousands of viewers cheer from the roadside.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The IRONMAN GERMANY takes place in Frankfurt am Main since 2002 and is the IRONMAN EUROPEAN CHAMPIONSHIP for the qualification of the World Championship in Hawaii at the same time. The athletes get 15 hours for all three disciplines. The minimum time is 8 hours for all of the three very long routes. Many of the participants quit before reaching the end.
