The 3rd Olympic Youth Summer Games 2018 will be held in Buenos Aires from 6 to 18 October 2018. In the Argentine capital, more than 3000 athletes from 206 countries between the ages of 15 and 18 will compete for medals in some 200 competitions in 28 sports. Glasgow, Guadalajara, Medellín, Poznan and Rotterdam also applied for the third Summer Youth Olympic Games. In July 2013 Buenos Aires was awarded the contract by the IOC. Footballer and Olympic champion Lionel Messi is an ambassador for the Games in Argentina.
