Copenhagen – watersports makes us happy

SPOTLIGHT
Copenhagen Cable Park

According to the World Happiness Report, the Danes seem to be the happiest people worldwide. How is this possible and makes them so happy? That is what I asked myself and while looking for an answer I went to the capital of Denmark and got completely hit by the beauty, the people and the amazing atmosphere.

I took the train from Hamburg central station directly to Copenhagen central station. The trip, where we also crossed the sea, took no more then 5 hours and was quite relaxed.

As I arrived in Kopenhagen, I made my way to the trendy district Vesterbro, where I booked a cheap accomodation on airbnb in a shared students flat.

My roomates were really kind and welcomed me with open arms. They also gave me some insidertips about some hotspots and must do’s in the City.

As I heard, that there is a Cable Park right in the middle of the city – I knew right away: I have to go there!

I took the bike – Copenhagen is not only famous for their delicious Hot Dog, but also a real bicycle city – and drove to the Kraftværksvej 20. After only half an hour bike drive I arrived in a very abondoned harbour area. There shall be a wakeboard park nearby? Yes, and what a park! The Copenhagen Cable Park definitely left me speechless. A warm-hearted team, great equipment and brandnew obstacles made my day at the caple park simply perfect.

The only point of criticism: Copenhagen is really expensive. Obviously the prices in the Copenhagen Cable Park are extremely high aswell.

JOURNEY

Anyone who wants to really experience Copenhagen, arrives without a car. Copenhagen has an airport and a central station and everything you need to get around in the city is a bike. There are bike rentals at every corner of the city.

ACCOMMODATION

As hostels and hotels are quite expensive, I recommend you to look for a place to stay on airbnb. Many students and even people who work already offer their guests a couch or subrent their room. It is not only a comfortable alternative but it also gives you the opportunity to connect with the locals. And I am sure, you can most probably benefit from one or the other insider tipp regarding sightseeing spots, good restaurants, and Copenhagen’s’ nightlife.

ALTERNATIVES

Any water- and action sports addict is going to by amazed by the Cable Park. However, you will find many alternative to sports in the city. A visit to the Carlsberg Brewery, a good fish restaurant or a Cappuccino in the Café Dyrehaven in Vesterbro are definitely worth it.
