LEVEL: ADVANCED / PROFESSIONAL

I named the exercise after Paul Chek, who once performed it with a Clubbell. Train your whole body with only lunges. How? In the following I will explain how to perform my favourite exercise “Check-Lung”  exactly.

SINGLE STEPS – CHEK LUNG

  • you make a 90/90 lunge (90 degrees angle in both knee joints) forward and lead one weight outside of the thigh of your leg ahead.
  • when doing the next lung, make sure you lead the weight with a slightly bent arm over your head and towards the opposite thigh.
  • Repeat!

STATEMENT

My favorite lung exercise ever. No other lung practise can train the whole body top a similar extent than the Chek lung!

BEFORE

In the beginning, practise this exercise without any weights to get into the flow of the movement. Simply direct your hands from the one side to the other.

EXPERT EXPERIENCE

Later on you can enhance the exercise by adding some weight: whether it is a small dumbbell or a kettlebell. And if you exercise preferably in the park outside – you can even use bigger stones.

CHALLENGE

The greatest challenge for this exercise, is to keep your trunk tension – although you have a weight hanging on the one side of your body and on top of that are in the middle of a lung – a quite unstable position.

IMPORTANT ADVICE
  • Make sure you hold your upper body upright and strain both legs to the same degree.
  • The movements of your arms and legs should proceed parallel. The reversal point at the end of one movement should take no more than a few seconds and then you should change immediately to the other direction.
