Challenge Sophie: Are you up for the challenge?
In 2013, Sophie Radcliffe was head of the commercial division of one of the UK’s fastest growing technology startups. Despite this huge success in her professional life she was feeling restless, as if something was lacking in her life. Now, in 2016, her life has completely changed: she is a blogger, marketeer, a model and an endurance athlete – and an IBS expert. Another story which proves, that sports can inspire your life. In January 2013 I was 27 and was the head of commercial division at the UK’s fastest growing technology startup. However, although I had everything I could imagine, I was restless. Now in 2016, only 3 years later, I am living a complete different life: I am a model, marketeer, endurance athlete and a blogger, who is writing the successful blog Challenge Sophie. Now I am really doing what I like, and – the best thing is – I am motivating and inspiring other people with with what I am doing.
When I finished university, I knew that I need something which would motivate me to get fit. So I was starting to look for challenges. The first one was an adventure race through the jungle of Borneo. Following that, I was doing a triathlon, I cycled from London to Paris in less than 24 hours and I climbed the Mont Blanc. With each and every challenge, I grew stronger and I was able to develop skills which I needed to find my inner strength, resolve and motivation.
I even quit my really well paid job in London after some time. and started writing my blog. Although it was one of the was one of the toughest decisions of my life, it led me to where I am today. And in the end – it was my best decision ever made. I often think back to the days in my startup job, where I was working in a room with no natural light and thinking “I want to travel, go on adventures and live my most authentic life, but I have to be in this room every day to earn my salary.”
With my blog, I want to inspire other people and convince them to follow their dreams. To realize this dreams, sometimes we have to make tough decisions, but we also learn from those challenges. Through challenging ourselves we can stretch our limits, break down barriers and realise we can achieve far more than we think. My hope is that people following my journey can relate to it and realize that everybody can achieve something extraordinary.
